Culture baby! In Abundance: Art EVERYWHERE this month.

Amongst the excellent exhibitions currently on in the city - and for a short while longer - are four particular shows I highly recommend, or am highly wanting to see myself, before the month is out.

Firstly: we have Tracey Emin: Love Is What You Want at the Hayward Gallery, Southbank Centre. (How could this promo poster not stick in your mind) I'm not sure if this exhibition is a joyous and colourful exude of expressionism; or a cry for help. But, an honest account as ever we get from the renowned contemporary artist I'm sure. On until the 29th August it deserves a look.

Secondly: Toulouse Lautrec: Beyond the Moulen Rouge. This is wonderful! I adored this collection of vintage posters, originals drawings and paintings. We are tantalised with the buoyant life of, and the lust for, the women who appears centre stage in Lautrec's work: Jane Avril. With images depicting the can-can dancers and prostitutes for the aristocrats you need a good sense of humour for this. The rest of The Cauthald Gallery has a stunning display of Impressionist works to roam through also...

Penultimatly: Van Gogh at The Dulwich Picture Gallery: 'The masterpeice a month, presiding genius' of August is the man himself. A superb collection of his works.

And finally: Deno and Jake Chapman at The Whitecube. This has been recommend by a friend, emphatically too. Just researching it now myself.

Enjoy!

And also, to promote the delightful Greenwich, The Astronomer of the Year 2011is currently on at The Royal Observatory (until february 2012). The Guardian this week had a collation of exceptional images from the show.
